Last week a friend of mine sent me a Pinterest invite...and I excepted. Not only did I find another great way to waste time, but I find a great outlet for inspiration. I now have multiple projects in line to create. The first ones are all Valentine's Day oriented since it is the next decorative holiday approaching (there is MLK day and Groundhogs Day, but I don't think anyone decorates for those). I've never really decorated for V-day since it really isn't a holiday, so I have only one decoration that I bought last year on clearance after Valentine's Day. Anyway, so this year I will be making multiple ones thanks to my Pinterest inspiration.
The first one I decided on (mainly because it is the easiest and least time consuming) is a Valentine's Day Shadowbox. My inspiration is from this Christmas Shadowbox from Blue Eyed Blessings. It is so darn cute. I really want to make one just like it for Christmas, but since that holiday is months off...
I got an 8x8 shadowbox from Walmart, heart picks and fake roses from Dollar Tree, and Ribbon from Hobby Lobby. Then I went to my enormous supply of scrapbook paper and picked out a cute pink, red, and white Valentine-themed piece. I cut the paper to 8x8-in so that it would fit inside the shadowbox.
Next, I pulled the hearts off of the picks (Princess #2 was excited about this because now she and Princess #1 can play Harry Potter with the left over sticks). There were ten per bag, so I only used six each of red and pink. I didn't want the shadow box over full. I placed the hearts at the bottom of the shadow box, inclining towards the left (when finished and looking at it from the front, they incline to the right).
Then, I fitted the paper to the back of the shadow box and attached the back onto the shadow box.
On to my handy-dandy Silhouette Cameo (that is so much fun). I cutted a "love" character from pink vinyl (I thought I had red, but alas I didn't. I think it would have been better with red) and attached it to the front of the shadow box on the left side.
Finally, I added the ribbon to the outside of the box...and voila, a Valentine's Shadowbox. Now, I added a rose to the top because I thought my bow a little lacking. I'm not sure if I will keep it that way, so for the moment it is only masking taped to the back.

Patchwork Christmas Stocking with Rhinestone Name
I'm back. With the approach of Christmas (and I ridiculous reading goal for the year to meet) I haven't been doing a lot of crafty stuff. I did make a few more car seat canopies for gifts as well as sale, but I figure you didn't want to see any more of those right now. Anyway, my little Princess #3 was quickly approaching her second Christmas and still didn't have a stocking. I really wanted to make a cute patchwork one for her, but I'm not very good at making my own patterns. I wasn't sure how big to make the stocking and I wanted the shape to be just right. Fortunately I found a McCall's pattern that was exactly what I wanted; it was even patchwork. So, I whipped one up and it turned out super cute.
Well, then for Christmas, my husband bought me just what I wanted, and he didn't even know it! That's right I finally got a Silhouette Cameo (I know I've been talking about it for a few months...so excited). Today I took the time to figure it out completely (I had played around with it, but hadn't actually made anything). I wanted to put the baby's name on the stocking, and I decided to do it in rhinestone. Here is the finished product:
